Graphic Novel

Update, 10/25/2023: Although Midsummer Love is currently on hold, Madikken is being featured in another book of mine, Sex Positivity. As of 10/8/2023, the first volume of that book is live. Go to my website’s 1-page promo and pick up a copy for free (it’s non-profit)! While you’re there, you can also learn about the other three volumes, project history of Sex Positivity and logo design. Madikken will be featured in the second volume, which debuts in November. In the meantime, here’s the finished drawing that features her that will be going in the book, along with the model who posed for the drawing:

Update, 12/22/2020: The script for the novel is finished. There are four chapters, at about 25 pages each. Chapter 1 is storyboarded. Only 75 more storyboards to go…

After a lengthy hiatus, I am resuming work on my graphic novel, Midsummer Love (working title)! Inspired by stories like A Midsummer Night’s Dream (1605) and The Mysteries of Udolpho (1794), my novel follows Madikken, a young milkmaid, who becomes lost in an enchanted forest. There, she meets all manner of strange characters; she also begins to explore her deepest, darkest desires. Woefully inexperienced and starved for love, Madikken throws caution to the wind and tries to make her wildest dreams come true…

Originally published in 2016 as Midsummer Love: The Erotic Tales of Madikken the Milkmaid, I co-authored that project with another artist. Here are several photos of the original, physical book (Spazer86 was my old Deviant Art account, which is now titled “vanderWaardart“):

A past dispute between us lead the project to being shelved. However, the original illustrator and I have now reached an agreement: I now own full rights to the graphic novel (and its intellectual properties); his artwork cannot be used in future editions of the book (or any sequels). So, I am re-illustrating the entire book, as well as rewriting portions of the story and introducing new characters. Here are various concept drawings for the new version of Midsummer Love as it will look in my art style (note: this “look” is subject to change):
